Mumbai Based Independent Indian Extreme Metal Record Label Demonstealer Records Closes Its Label Division

Demonstealer Records is a Mumbai, Maharashtra based Independent Indian Extreme Metal Record Label founded in 2005 by Sahil Makhija (from The Right Archives) aka The Demonstealer the frontman of the Mumbai based Black/Death Metal band Demonic Resurrection who handles the Vocals and Guitars also at Demonic Resurrection. The Demonstealer as Sahil Makhija is popularly known is also involved in other Metal side-projects of his like the Death Metal band Reptilian Death, Humour Metal band Workshop, one-man Death Metal project Infinite Hate Project (from The Right Archives).

Below-mentioned is as statement from Sahil Makhija aka The Demonstealer on the closing of Demonstealer Records label division:

"As of today I am shutting down the label division of DSR. The label will however continue to function but will only release my projects that is Demonic Resurrection, Workshop, Reptilian Death and Demonstealer (solo).

When I started the label back in 2005 we were pretty much the only ones doing this and while other labels came and went we carried on and released a lot of Indian and some foreign bands, some of who are now India’s top bands, for example Scribe and Bhayanak Maut who had some of their first releases on DSR. I’ve been fighting a losing battle for 5 years but have always felt the drive and will to push forward despite the hurdles but I think that time is over now. What has helped me to take this decision is that there is a whole bunch of new record labels who can take the scene to greater heights like Roadcrew Records, Diabolical Conquest (KC sign some Indian bands now), Six Inch Nails, CDRack Records and many more that are coming up. I think now is the time for me to focus my attention to my own music and also to focus on my new venture www.dsrbooking.com which is still going to benifit bands if they choose to take advantage of the services offered.

I would like to thank everyone who has support DSR over the years and all the artists who were part of the DSR family. It would be impossible to name every person so I won’t name anyone. I would however like to say that I haven’t closed the door on DSR releasing other bands forever, being a musician you never know when inspiration strikes but for now this is end of DSR signing bands and the start of DSR Booking and expanding my own musical horizons. Once I would like to thank every single person that was instrumental in getting DSR to where it is today, every fan that ever bought a CD or merch and all our business partners. To all the DSR artists: it was an absolute pleasure working with you guys, thank you for entrusting me with your music and careers!

B69 for those who don't know is one of Mumbai's favourite Metal music hubs and has played hosts to umpteen Metal gigs. If it weren't for places like B69, Metal bands in Mumbai would have had a difficult time scouting for locations to play gigs.

For the first time ever Swedish Progressive Metal band Opeth will perform a live concert in India. The heavy metal band will headline the second edition of Summerstorm Festival 2012, to be held on 5 February in Bengaluru, Karnataka

The progressive giants will showcase their two decades of work at the fest organized by Overture.

The first edition of the festival was headlined by the Groove Metal/Metalcore legends Lamb of God.

Opeth comprised of Mikael Åkerfeldt, Martín Méndez, Martin Axenrot, Fredrik Åkesson and Joakim Svalberg has released 10 studio albums. The band’s ninth studio album peaked at 23rd position on the Billboard 200 charts.

Each recorded in 1998, Disc One features the band at the height of their prowess tearing the roof off of the infamous Whisky A Go-Go in Los Angeles while Disc Two is a brilliant recording of the band on the festival stage at Dynamo Open Air. Ok, this is a bit ridiculous. American Heavy Metal/Glam Metal band Steel Panther’s new album "Balls Out", which is admittedly features artwork that is a little bit ‘out-there’, has been considered “overtly sexual” and as such, those nice chaps at the Advertising Standards Authority have put a ban on the promo posters that are being used to advertise the new album.

The ASA received a total of four complaints. FOUR!!

For those that don’t already know, the CD cover features a scantily-clad young lady, dangling two metallic balls in between her legs.

“Given its placement in a range of public locations, we concluded that it was likely to cause serious and widespread offence,” said the ASA.

“[It] was unsuitable to be seen by children and therefore was not appropriate for outdoor advertising,” they added, and “overtly sexual when taken as a whole”.

What a load of old nonsense. Just to really piss off everyone at the ASA, here is a close up of the offending balls. Nice.

Being a Headbanger/Metalhead in India has never been good. From a country which had a reputation of hosting bands and musicians who were past their prime or rolling out their "best of:" albums, Metal music had a scarce and negligible presence in India with hardly any top-level international Metal bands and musicians playing in India.

As they say, nothing stays for ever, Metal music in India too changed for good what with bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Sepultura, Opeth, Vildhjarta, Enslaved, Freak Kitchen, Machine Head, Satyricon, Abigail, Severe Dementia, Cauchemar, Orator and Sahg coming to play to India.

It was a surprising and pleasant mix of both the known and not-so-well-known Metal bands and musicians coming to play to India.

Personally speaking I'm a huge Thrash Metal fan and have had the privilege of seeing Iron Maiden and Megadeth live in India so far. I'm hoping that more and more Metal musicians and bands come to India and I also hope that one of my all-time favourite Metal band Slayer comes to India to play.

"EN VIVO!" was filmed on 10th April 2011 in front of over 50,000 ecstatic fans at the Estadio Nacional, Santiago during the Round The World In 66 Days leg of The Final Frontier World Tour, and captures a magnificent performance by the band, ardently embraced by the legendary Latino passion and energy of their Chilean fans. With spectacular stage backdrops, dynamic musicianship and a literally jaw-dropping appearance by Eddie, this live show encapsulates to perfection the heart and soul of Iron Maiden 2011.

Bass player and founder member Steve Harris comments "For The Final Frontier Tour it was really important to me that we filmed in South America as we're always so overwhelmed by the fans' reaction when we go to that part of the world and I wanted to reflect that in the filming. After much consideration we chose the Santiago show as we felt it was one of our best performances of the entire Tour and to play at the prestigious Estadio Nacional was a landmark moment for us. For reasons known to our fans, it took a long time before we got to play our first show in Chile, and once we did get to play a show, the response was so phenomenal we just had to keep coming back and it's got better and better each time!

This show also features the gigantic new Eddie. He wasn't due to make his appearance until our European leg of the tour later in 2011, but we managed to transport him across the sea in a special huge container just in time for the latter end of the South American dates so it was great we were able to immortalize him for the DVD as he really has to be seen to be believed!"

The concert was filmed digitally using 22 HD cameras and an octocam (a flying camera which captures aerial crowd scenes), recorded in both stereo and 5.1 audio and mixed by Maiden's longstanding producer Kevin "Caveman" Shirley, all of which serves to accentuate the incredible atmosphere of this compelling performance. Extensive use is made of split screens so fans can follow the individual members closer and the set list moves seamlessly between songs from Maiden's most recent studio album, 2010's The Final Frontier through to classic fan favourites via the band's vast and varied catalogue. DVD Disc Two is a Bonus Disc containing an 88-minute documentary, BEHIND THE BEAST. This is also an entirely in-house production by Maiden's own Krew, led by Andy Matthews, and is intended as an interesting and revealing high quality "home movie" for their fans of how to put on an Iron Maiden tour and what goes on behind the scenes at a show. It describes the extraordinary story of one of the most acclaimed and ambitious touring shows in the world. "After the success of the first Bruce Air Flight 666 Experience, we are pleased to offer another chance to fly Bruce-Air, in a state-of-the-art full motion 737 flight simulator with personal instruction from Bruce!

THE SIMULATOR

This full motion flight simulator has been purchased by Bruce and ex-Astraeus colleague Mario Fulgioni as part of their aviation business, training and checking pilots and crews from many airlines. In fact, Bruce did his own pilot training in a 737 sim just like this one.

For those of you with good memories you might also recall that a 737 was the very first plane to bear the Bruce Air moniker when Flight 666 took its maiden voyage to Paris back in November 2003!

The simulator is located at Heathrow Airport, London.

THE EXPERIENCE

You will taxi the aeroplane around a major international airport, line up on the runway and perform the take off. If you're good enough, you'll do the landing too!

In between take off and landing, you will be shown the real performance capabilities of a modern airliner and experience the most advanced cockpit visuals - so if all you want to do is sight see, we've got some pretty spectacular sights.

If a drummer can fly, so can you!
You can book a slot and have an hour of Bruce's one-to-one tuition all to yourself, or you can split it between 2 or 3 of you and divide up the hour of flying time between you and your friends. Or if you just want to bring a couple of people to sit in the observers seats (directly behind the pilots seats), you can do that too.

All participants will be given a personally signed commemorative Bruce Air Flight 666 certificate as a souvenir of their experience.

The Bruce Air Flight 666 Experience costs £666 +vat (at 20%) for one hour of simulator time with Bruce.

Where will this be happening?
The simulator is located right next to Heathrow Airport. There are excellent transport links, including a tube station very nearby.

There are two or three of us. How do we divide our time?
That is entirely up to you -- you have one hour to share as you see fit. Just let Bruce know how you want to split it when you enter the simulator.

Can I take photos?
You can take photos and/or video inside the simulator. Outside the simulator you can take photos but not video. Please be aware that you must switch off your mobile phone while you're inside the building, so we advise that you bring a proper camera and don't rely on your camera phone.

Can I bring more than 2 guests?
Sorry, but there is no room in the simulator and guests cannot wait outside.

Age Limits?
You must be 14 or over to enter the simulator, and be accompanied by an adult if under 18.

Can I book more than one slot?
Yes, you can book as many as you like. If you have a specific request for a longer flight, please contact us for a quote.

What should I wear?
We recommend flat shoes and ladies may want to wear trousers.

Who can participate?
The Flight 666 Experience involves a degree of physical mobility and may not be suitable for some people. Please check with us at the time of booking.

Participants must be in good health and free from heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness or other conditions that could be aggravated by the motion of the simulator. It is advised that expectant mothers should not participate.

You must not be under the influence of drugs of alcohol. No refund will be given in such circumstances.

What do I need to bring?
Please also be aware that everyone entering the simulator will have to provide 2 forms of ID on the day, one of which MUST BE your passport or driving licence. Failure to provide adequate identification will result in the refusal of admittance. If you are unsure, please check with us before booking.
Problems

In the unlikely event of a technical problem with the simulator, we will offer a refund or rebooking.
If you are travelling to this event, we recommend you take out appropriate travel insurance to cover your travel and accommodation.

Amit Saigal, founder, publisher and editor-in-chief of the New Delhi-based Indian Rock Music magazine Rock Street Journal, popularly known as RSJ and responsible for being the brains behind cool Rock and Metal music festivals like Great Indian Rock and Pub Rock Fest drowned while swimming off a Goa beach on Thursday, January 5, 2012 officials said.

Saigal was swimming with his friends near their anchored sail boat off Bogmalo beach, 35 km from Panaji in Goa.

"Saigal's friends who were present there said that he was asthmatic and could have had an asthma attack when he was swimming, while the entourage had anchored the sail boat mid-sea," an official of a private beach management service said.

Saigal was headed with his friends from Panaji to Palolem, a popular beach in Goa.

"Our lifeguard stationed at Bogmalo beach around 12.20 pm saw through his binoculars that some people on the sailboat were gesticulating wildly for help. We sent a jet ski there to check and found Saigal on the deck with his pulse missing," the official said.

Saigal was later taken to hospital where he was declared dead.

The police have registered the case as an unnatural death and the autopsy is likely to be conducted soon.

Amit Saigal, founder and editor of the music magazine Rock Street Journal was responsible for popularising independent music scene in India to a great extent.

Saigal started Rock Street Journal in January 1993 in Allahabad with Shena Gamat Saigal after they realised the lack of support system for Indian rock musicians.

Saigal had over 25 years of experience in the music business in India, and was closely involved in the club as well as the concert market in India, and had been an encouraging entity to many emerging rock bands and musicians.

Some of the biggest contributions to the music scene include the festivals started by him which include Great Indian Rock Festival popularly known as GIR, Global Groove Festival & Convention, Pub Rock Fest, Jazz Utsav and Rocktoberfest and the latest inclusion being the India Music Week.

Dying Fetus: New North American Tour Dates Announced

Fresh off their South American tour, DYING FETUS have announced headlining and co-headlining North American tour dates. The tour sponsored by Metal Sucks and Dead End Threads kicks off February 26th and runs through March 14th. The first leg of the tour will see DYING FETUS headlining with support coming from: Job For a Cowboy, Volumes and Last Chance to Reason. The second leg will feature a co-headlining bill with DYING FETUS and The Faceless. Support will come from Goatwhore, Volumes and Last Chance to Reason.

DYING FETUS are currently working on their new album, entitled "Reign Supreme" which is set to be released in mid 2012 through Relapse Records. The album will feature nine tracks and is a "return to roots" with production focused slightly more on slam than in the band's last few works. Thematically, the album is set to be a good old-fashioned piece of social and political commentary in the style of DYING FETUS as we have come to know.

DYING FETUS will also be touring North America this Spring as part of the Metal Alliance Tour with Devildriver, The Faceless, Job For A Cowboy, 3 Inches of Blood, Impending Doom and Wretched. The tour kicks off March 15th in Austin, TX as a part of the SXSW Music Festival and runs through April 21st, circling back to Houston, TX.

Norwegian Black Metal Band Taake Causes Controversy With Anti-Islamic Lyrics, Nominated For The Prestigious Spellmann Award

Taake is no stranger to controversy but many listeners have expressed outrage at the inclusion of anti-Muslim lyrics in a song from their new album "Noregs Vaapen".

Taake has recently been nominated for a prestigious Norwegian music for best heavy metal band despite lyrics in the album being anti-Islamic.

The Spellemann award is likened to the American Grammy award or the British Brit award in the Scandinavian country’s music industry.

But critics argue that lyrics in their new album’s song ‘Orkan’ (Hurricane) are xenophobic as they include the phrase “To hell with Muhammad and the Mohammedans” and their “unforgivable customs”, whilst the song ends “Norway will awaken”.

Their nomination has sparked outrage among many listeners, claiming the band has gone too far.

However, Hoest, the band’s front man, has refuted these claims and said that their sole intention was to criticize religion. “Our view, in the name of freedom of expression, is that it is shameful to adhere to Christianity or Islam,” he said.

Marte Thorsby, chairman of the prize committee’s board, denied any allegations that the judges had not properly listened to the album before its nomination. “We enjoy full freedom of expression in Norway and a Spellemann jury is not going to censor content in any way,” she told Aftenposten newspaper.

The issue comes at a time when the country is still recovering from the massacre of 69 people, mostly teenagers, in Utoyo island in July last year by Anders Behring Breivik who said he committed the acts to prevent Norway from “Marxist and Muslim colonization”.

This, however, is not the first time Taake has created controversy.

When performing at a concert in Essen in Germany, Hoest wore a Swastika where public displays of the swastika are illegal. This led to the cancellation of the band’s European tour and outrage among many heavy metal fans across Germany.

Hoest responded to the controversy by saying: “We truly apologize to all of our collaborators who might get [into] problems because of the Essen swastika scandal, except for the Untermensch (subhuman) owner of that club; you can go suck a Muslim,” he is quoted as saying on the band’s website.

In addition to this many of the band members have been imprisoned for violence, including Hoest who has been jailed three times.

The band’s most recent statement takes a slightly less offensive tone and states “Taake has never been a political band, and we do not encourage either violence or racism.”

Cannibal Corpse Set To Release Twelfth Studio Album Artwork, Track Listing And First Single Revealed

America's reigning kings of brutality, CANNIBAL CORPSE, will unleash their twelfth studio offering this March via Metal Blade Records. Aptly titled Torture, the follow-up to 2009's Evisceration Plague offers up 12 tracks of maniacally precise, soul-searing death metal. Torture was again produced by Hate Eternal's Erik Rutan at his own Mana Recording Studio in St. Petersburg, Florida as well as Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas, and features the maniacal cover art by longtime CANNIBAL CORPSE artist, Vincent Locke, viewable HERE.

While Torture marks the latest progression in the band's sound, it also witnesses a return to what drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz accurately terms "the frenzied attack of Butchered At Birth (1991) or Tomb Of The Mutilated (1992)," infusing the band's advanced musicianship with the raw savagery that haunted their earlier releases, and in the process conceiving the definitive CANNIBAL CORPSE record. Adds bassist Alex Webster on the outcome of the record: "We're extremely happy with how Torture turned out. The self-titled album has been penned for an early-summer 2012 release via the recently formed Iron Fist Records in India. According to Rahul Chacko, lead guitarist and in-house band artist: "The art for Bevar Sea has always been about trying to portray the spirit of the music, while using reference points from the lyrics, and incorporating a healthy dose of influence from some of our favourite comic artists. The album art is probably our most ambitious collection yet, and so far it's shaping up pretty good!"

The band will wrap up recording, and support label-mates, scene veterans, and fellow old schoolers Kryptos for their third album's launch party on Feb 18th at Kyra Theatre in Bangalore. This occasion will also see the launch of Bevar Sea’s new website, and the debut of their new song, "Where There's Smoke (There's A Pyre)".

Spellbind Records will be exclusively booking the band for shows across the middle eastern territories like Dubai, Qatar etc.

Iron Fist Records was founded in December 2011 to promote the finest metal the Indian underground has to offer. We deal exclusively with heavy metal, death metal, doom, and thrash, and we are always on the lookout for great new bands that capture the true essence and spirit of what metal is all about.

Although we have only just begun, we fully intend to give deserving bands the backing they need, whether by providing tour support, booking gigs, or cutting records. We firmly believe in sorting the wheat from the chaff in order to bring you top quality metal releases from India.

Aditya Mehta vocalist & bassist of the Indian Death Metal band Exhumation today announced on his website that he's formed a new Black Metal band called Solar Deity. Yash Pathak the former member of Exhumation will be a part of Solar Deity.

With this India has now 3 Black Metal bands, first being 1833 AD, second being Paganic Souls and third and the last being Solar Deity itself.
